Hoipolloi and Theatre Royal Plymouth in association with English Touring Theatre and Watford Palace Theatre presents
The Doubtful Guest
Inspired by the book by Edward Gorey
Written and directed by Shôn Dale-Jones
Designed by Stefanie Müller
Hoipolloi, the innovative and award-winning creators of the world of Hugh Hughes (Floating & Story of a Rabbit), have teamed up with Arts Theatre regulars English Touring Theatre to bring you something intriguingly different…
When a curious creature scuttles into the Bishop Family’s house, they have no idea how to get rid of it. Eating plates, trapping them in their own drawing room for weeks and throwing their favourite possessions into a pond, it holds them prisoners in their own home.
Brimming full of fantastical music and lively performances, Edward Gorey’s absurd comedy is brought vividly to life by Hoipolloi. The Doubtful Guest is a delightfully dark and sneakily sinister tale perfect for anyone who enjoys a little havoc in their lives!
