Shakespeare's Globe on Tour presents
THE COMEDY OF ERRORS
A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM

Performed in The Master's Garden, Emmanuel College

The internationally renowned Shakespeare’s Globe visits Cambridge for the first time with an exciting double bill of the Bard’s finest plays. Performed in the unparalleled, sumptuous settings of the Master’s Garden at Emmanuel College, a versatile troupe of actors will entertain outdoor crowds with high-energy, open-air versions of two of Shakespeare’s great comedies. True to the principles of Renaissance touring theatre, both plays will be performed on an Elizabethan-inspired stage, bringing a slice of the Shakespeare's Globe to Cambridge for a fortnight.

THE COMEDY OF ERRORS
Tuesday 18 – Sunday 23 August

Take one pair of estranged twins (both called Antipholous) and one pair of twin servants (both called Dromio), keep them in ignorance of each other and throw them into a city with a reputation for sorcery and you have the chief ingredients for theatrical chaos. Fast, furious and extremely funny, Shakespeare’s delightfully anarchic play is perfect for an evening under the stars.

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM
Tuesday 25 – Sunday 30 August

Hermia loves Lysander and Helena loves Demetrius – but Demetrius is supposed to be marrying Hermia. When the Duke of Athens tries to enforce the marriage, the lovers take refuge in the woods outside the city, and walk into the midst of a dispute between the king and queen of the fairies. Shakespeare put some of his most dazzling dramatic poetry at the service of this teasing, glittering, summer delight of a play.

There will be no seating for this performance, but there will be some limited room for patrons to bring their own chairs. This will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis and so cannot be guaranteed. There will be wheelchair spaces provided.
