THE 2010 CAMBRIDGE GREEK PLAY:
AGAMEMNON
Performed in Ancient Greek with English surtitles
The Cambridge Greek play is a triennial event that celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.
An award-winning creative team work with students of Cambridge University on a production packed with theatricality, music and passion. This Agamemnon, in the original language, offers a rare opportunity to hear the compelling rhythms and dynamic sound of the original Greek, with full English surtitling.
A vengeful mother grieves a daughter sacrificed for a war. A father returns from ten years’ fighting to a greater conflict. A captive prisoner can see just how bloodily things will end but no one will listen… Aeschylus’ shattering tragedy asks timeless questions about power and betrayal. What is left when the battle’s done?
