Dear Friends and Supporters,

I hope you and your loved ones are in good health and good spirits in this lockdown period.

I am very sorry to announce that Cambridge Arts Theatre is now cancelling all performances until 30 September 2020 due to the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The shows affected are: An Inspector Calls, A Monster Calls, Million Dollar Quartet, The Cat and the Canary, The Glee Club, English Touring Opera’s Così fan tutte and Giulio Cesare, Cirque Berserk, Ballet Black, Giraffes Can’t Dance, HMS Pinafore and I’m Sorry Prime Minister.

Mischief Theatre’s Groan Ups (19 – 24 October 2020) has been rescheduled for Spring 2021. Performances will now take place from Monday 5 – Saturday 10 April 2021. All tickets remain valid for the equivalent performances and have been transferred automatically. 

Whilst we hope to re-open as soon as possible, we are realistic about the current circumstances and intend to continue to follow Government advice. We will be monitoring the situation closely so please check our website and social media channels regularly for any further updates. 

We will be contacting all ticket holders for the affected shows to offer the option of a full refund. Please be patient whilst we do this as many of our staff are now furloughed and the few remaining staff are working remotely. Please do not phone the Box Office or any other numbers at the Theatre as they are not fully staffed and do not come to the Theatre as we are closed for the time being.

I want to say a huge thank you for the generosity and support you have shown us over the past few months since our initial closure. We have received countless kind messages and many of you have donated to the Theatre either directly or by choosing to donate the value of the tickets you had previously booked. We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful community of friends and supporters around us. Thank you.

Cambridge Arts Theatre Trust is a registered theatrical charity that has existed since 1936 to serve you, our loyal supporters. We are totally reliant on ticket sales, bar takings, individual donations and sponsorship for our survival. We receive no statutory or civic funding to shield us from this crisis and this closure continues to threaten our very existence. At the moment, our entire industry remains closed and we have no real idea when we might reopen.

With this in mind, I would once again ask that you consider donating all, or part, of the price of your cancelled tickets to the Theatre. We will be able to claim supplementary Gift Aid from the Government on any donations we receive. Our staff will explain these options with you when they get in touch. At the very least, I would ask that you consider converting the value of your tickets to a credit voucher for future shows.

Please rest assured that we are doing everything we can to ensure that we will be here for you when the threat from this dreadful virus recedes. I remain humbled by the strength and fortitude of our staff and I believe that, with your support, our combined resilience and determination will mean that we can come out of this crisis together and stronger.
