  • Moving around the theatre

Both entrances have level access and doors which can be opened by a push button placed at a suitable height for wheelchair users. There is a lift to all floors, and accessible toilets on each level. The Maynard Bar, Founders' Rooms and the Circle and Stalls Bars are all fully accessible.

We have eight spaces reserved for wheelchair users in the stalls. When booking tickets, the Box Office staff will ask if the wheelchair has a headrest, to ensure the most suitable space is allocated for you.

Mobility scooters cannot be accommodated inside the building. We have five house wheelchairs (including one electric) available for use during all performances, subject to availability. Please contact Box Office to pre-book our electric wheelchair.

If you have mobility requirements, please advise the Box Office when booking tickets so we are able to advise on the best seating for your needs.

  • Assisted Performances

Some of our performances are BSL INTERPRETED. The British Sign Language interpreter will stand to the right of the stage, where they will interpret dialogue, as it is spoken.

We also programme CAPTIONED PERFORMANCES;words will appear, as they are spoken or whenever a sound is made, on a screen positioned above or to the side of the stage.

We can provide large print cast lists on request, please let the Box Office team know.

We programme a number of AUDIO DESCRIBED PERFORMANCES throughout the year; the describer will explain what is happening, visually, on stage throughout the performance and this is relayed through a headset. A pre-show touch tour of the set is often available.

We also offer RELAXED PERFORMANCESRelaxed Performances are for people who will benefit from a more relaxed environment, allowing for noise and movement in the auditorium. This includes audience members with an Autism Spectrum Condition, sensory or communication disorders, or a learning disability. A relaxed performance environment also includes some technical changes to the production, such as adjustments to light and sound effects, for those with sensory sensitivities.

  • Hearing enhancement system

We have a Sennheiser infra-red hearing enhancement system, designed to help deaf and hard of hearing patrons both without hearing aids, and those who have hearing aids with a ‘T’ setting.

We are able to provide, free of charge, a limited number of Sennheiser headsets and Sennheiser personal induction loops, which are discreet and easy to use. If you have never used one before, we would strongly recommend arriving at the theatre early so that our Front of House staff can explain how they work.

  • Assistance Dogs

Assistance dogs are welcome in all areas of the theatre, and can be accommodated by the Front of House team if the show content is unsuitable for them to sit in the auditorium (for example, loud noises or effects).

Please advise the Box Office, when booking your ticket, that you intend to bring your dog so they are able to find the best seats to ensure both you and your dog are comfortable and can let the Front of House team know.
