Following the huge, sell-out success of Fat Friends The Musical, Kay Mellor makes a triumphant return with a star-studded cast in the world premiere stage production of her multi-award winning TV series Band of Gold.

Band of Gold was the ground-breaking crime drama that captivated over 15 million viewers each week when it aired on ITV and revolved around a group of women – Carol, Rose, Anita and Gina. At times heart-breaking and humorous, Band of Gold tells the story of how a young mother is drawn into the notorious red-light district.
 
With a killer on the loose it’s a battle to survive!
 
The three iconic female lead roles that were played by Geraldine James, Barbara Dickson and Cathy Tyson in the TV series, will be played on stage by Gaynor Faye (Emmerdale, Playing the Field, Calendar Girls), Laurie Brett (EastEnders, Waterloo Road, Les Misérables) and introducing Emma Osman. They will be joined by award-winning TV stars, Shayne Ward (Coronation Street, Rock of Ages, X Factor winner), Kieron Richardson (Hollyoaks, Heartbeat), Sacha Parkinson (Mr. Selfridge, The Mill) and Andrew Dunn (Dinnerladies, Coronation Street).

Laurie Brett
Laurie Brett

Laurie is best known for the role of Jane Beale in Eastenders (BBC) which she depicted between 2004 and 2012 before returning from 2014 to 2017. She was nominated for a Scottish BAFTA for Best Actress for her role as Christine in Waterloo Road (BBC). Most recently she played the guest lead role of Corinna Richardson in London Kills (Acorn Productions). She has just finished filming on Traces (Red Production Company) and Deadwater Fell (Kudos for Channel 4). 
 
She is also an accomplished musical theatre performer. Her credits include playing the role of Mdm Thenardier in Trevor Nunn’s production of Les Miserable (Cameron Mackintosh), Magneta in The Rocky Horror Picture Show (ATG) and Paulette/Chrissy in Smokey Joe’s Café. 
 

Gaynor Faye
Gaynor Faye

Probably best known for recently playing Megan Macey in Emmerdale, Gaynor has also starred in Fat friends, Playing the Field, The Chase, Between the Sheets, Stan The Man and Judy Mallet in Coronation street. She has also appeared in Coogan's Run, Men of The World, Danni’s House, The Life and Times of Henry Pratt, The Wanderer, Downwardly Mobile and Casualty. 

Stage wise, Gaynor toured and made her West end debut in the Original cast of Calendar Girls. She played Cathy in Hull Truck’s production of Wuthering Heights and Pippa in the original production of John Godber's The Office Party, she also narrated and toured with Corrie the play. 

Gaynor’s other passion is writing, she has written episodes of Playing the Field, Fat Friends and In the Club as well as script edited numerous Rollem productions including The Syndicate. She also has a penchant for ice skates and sequins and was the original Queen of Dancing on Ice. 

Sacha Parkinson
Sacha Parkinson

Sacha’s on screen credits include Safe House, Mr Selfridge (both for ITV), The Driver (Netflix) The Mill (Channel 4) and My Mad Fat Diary (E4). She can currently be seen in the feature film Apostasy, was critically acclaimed following its release at TIFF and LFF and was selected by Screen Daily as one of the top 5 most exciting indie film projects released in 2018. 

Kieron Richardson
Kieron Richardson

Kieron is best known for playing Ste Hay in the mutli-award winning Channel 4 show Hollyoaks. Over the last decade audiences have seen Kieron’s character go on a roller-coaster ride of dramas, with Ste being at the centre of some of the most highly acclaimed & important storylines the show has dealt with, with his portrayal resulting in a host of awards & nominations.

As well as appearing on numerous hit TV shows as a guest, Kieron collaborated & presented a ground-breaking documentary for E4, the first factual commission it’s kind by the channel, Raised By Queers, which has gone on to rate as one of the highest viewed shows the All4 platform have shared.

This is Kieron first stage role & one which he could not be more excited about. Growing up watching Kay Melloer’s hit TV version on Band Of Gold had a huge impact on him pursuing a career as an actor & he is honoured to be playing Steve in the world premiere of this brilliant stage adaptation

Shayne Ward
Shayne Ward

Shayne spent 3 years playing the role of Aiden Connor in Coronation Street (ITV). During his time on the show, Shayne won several awards including best newcomer at the National Television Awards. He left the show with an award winning and critically acclaimed storyline. Shayne has gone on to star in 2 feature films in the months since leaving, Stairs (his feature film debut) premieres August 2019.
 
As a recording artist, Shayne rose to fame winning the 2nd series of The X Factor and went on to achieve both chart success and platinum selling albums across the world. His debut single 'That's  My Goal' topped the charts in the Christmas No.1 slot and Madame Tussauds honoured him with a waxwork!

Shayne is thrilled to be working with Kay Mellor and the fantastic cast in this new production of Band of Gold.
