The Demon Barber of Fleet Street sets out his stall in Cambridge Operatic Society’s (CaOS) exciting production of Sweeney Todd.

With music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler, Sweeney Todd is a tasty theatrical treat that has shocked, awed and thrilled audiences around the world. It tells the tale of Todd, an unjustly exiled barber, who returns to 19th century London seeking vengeance against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife.

Todd’s bloody revenge becomes a dish served hot by Mrs Lovett, the entrepreneurial and lovestruck proprietress of a pie shop, to queues of hungry Londoners who begin finding her wares very delectable indeed. And the carnage has only just begun!

Directed by Chris Cuming, with musical direction by James Harvey, CaOS’ production of Sweeney Todd follows their well-received 2017 production of Annie and the company’s NODA Award-winning Sister Act. This is an event to die for!

Sweeney Todd is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorised performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.MTIshows.com.
