Fiesta time. A crowd mingles in the plaza. The sounds of flamenco echo down the streets. A knife glints in the hot sun.

The worlds of Carmen and Lorca collide in this vibrant reinvention of Shakespeare’s most passionate drama, performed by a large ensemble cast of actors and musicians.

The Marlowe Society, Cambridge University’s leading drama society, returns to Cambridge Arts Theatre after their recent acclaimed productions of Edward II, Measure for Measure and Doctor Faustus. It has been responsible for launching the careers of some of Britain’s greatest actors including Sir Ian McKellen, Tilda Swinton, Tom Hiddleston and Sir Derek Jacobi.

Tom Littler directed Measure for Measure at the Cambridge Arts Theatre in 2016. Formerly Associate Director of the Peter Hall Company, he is now Artistic Director of Jermyn Street Theatre.
