The Cambridge Arts Theatre is an independent theatrical charity and we receive no public subsidy or regular funding. We were founded in 1936 to ensure that the students and citizens of Cambridge could benefit from the transformative power of the arts. The theatre has since become known for its bold and ambitious creative choices and for launching the careers of some of the world’s greatest performers and cultural icons. Fast forward ninety years and today, the Arts Theatre is a thriving regional showcase for drama, dance and opera, a beacon for the development of arts professionals, and a much-loved regional venue delivering a diverse annual programme of over 350 shows to the people of Cambridge and the wide region.
