We have a dedicated team of approximately 80 volunteers from all walks of life who work hard to make sure that everyone feels welcome when they attend a show at our Theatre. Volunteers assist with a variety of tasks from ushering to selling ice creams and play a crucial part in taking care of the needs and safety of our audience. We offer our volunteers the opportunity to be part of a friendly, intergenerational team, with plenty of training, and the chance to see to learn lots about the performing arts and the running of a Theatre. Volunteers practice and develop skills in public speaking, customer service, money handling, sales, and teamwork.
“I have loved joining the team at Cambridge Arts Theatre as a volunteer. I like meeting and working with new people. I love being in the theatre and seeing lots of different shows. Volunteering at CAT has improved my skills and given me great work experience. I check the tickets, show people to their seats, sell the ice creams to customers and welcome everyone with a smile. Everyone there is really lovely!” – Volunteer, 2023
In the past, many volunteers have gone on to paid employment in the arts sector, including at the Theatre itself. Others have gone on to study drama or arts administration at university.
We are not currently open to applications for new volunteers, but please do get in touch if you have any questions: [email protected]
