As we make plans to reopen the Theatre later this year, we are excited to again be able to offer Work Experience placements.
One-week Work Experience placements for students at school or college, aged 15 or above, will be available:
Monday 5 – Friday 9 July
Monday 12 – Friday 16 July
Monday 26 – Friday 30 July
Work Experience placements include an introduction to Cambridge Arts Theatre, a backstage tour, speaking with different Theatre departments and wherever possible the opportunity to watch the current production.
This year our Work Experience programme also offers the chance to explore the Theatre’s fascinating history. Part of your week will be spent exploring the Theatre’s archive and using the historic material housed there to develop a series of learning resources for primary school pupils and KS3 students.
The placement will offer you unparalleled understanding of how a Theatre runs, you will learn about the various career options available within the arts sector and connect with Theatre professionals. At the end of the placement, you will be able to demonstrate many transferable skills such as research, writing, IT, project management, the ability to work individually and within a team.
In line with the Government’s ‘Road Map’ announcement we are hoping to welcome you to the Theatre to undertake your Work Experience placement. In the weeks preceding the placement we will review the current COVID restrictions and best practice guidance for performing arts venues and make the necessary adaptations to allow your placement to go ahead safely. In the event of another National Lockdown or tier restrictions it may be necessary to use digital/remote working options to allow placements to go ahead.
We normally receive more applications for Work Experience than we can safely accommodate so we operate an application process.
