Richard Alston Dance Company return to the Arts Theatre with a knock-out programme of superbly skilled choreography to music from all over the world.

In his brand-new Tangent, Martin Lawrance explores the vivid accents and attack of Tango. Four couples, intertwined but shifting and subtly syncopating, glide through the Four Seasons of Buenos Aires by Tango master Piazzolla, played live by Jason Ridgway on piano.

Alston’s Isthmus Remix and Holderlin Fragments explore contrasting pieces of music by Japanese composer Jo Kondo and Benjamin Britten respectively.

The closing piece Nomadic mixes Asian-influenced traditional Romany singing with the toughness of an urban beat. To explore the interaction between gypsy music and urban sound, Alston has collaborated with hip-hop choreographer Ajani Jognson-Goffe.

Pre-order a delicious deli box from celebrated local café, Aromi, to enjoy before the show! Click here for more information.
